Sherry Week
International Sherry Week celebrates all things sherry. But what does that have to do with whisky? Our very first bottling in 1983 was a whisky matured in a sherry cask from distillery 1. Today, we continue to celebrate sherry and whisky through our sherry cask maturation programme. Enjoy these casks as part of the world’s largest ‘salud!’ to everything sherry.

Tasting Notes
As we polished our plums by the mahogany writing bureau, our noses grazed on the perfume of a warm slab of orange sponge cake topped with candied lemon peel, mace and cured ham. The palate, brandy-like at first sip, became a schnapps-soaked fruit cake dotted with ripe cherries and accompanied by a glass of fine vermouth. Water gave the nose jelly beans, a Moroccan market and dried figs dipped in pomegranate molasses, while the palate finished with a milky hot chocolate spiked with kirsch, orange and coriander. After nine years in an ex-bourbon barrel, we transferred this to a first fill American oak PX hogshead for the remainder of its maturation.
