Powerful perusal potion

Big and bold, this was truly a dram for perusing, the Panel agreed. Dark chocolate muffins with glacé cherries met wet tobacco and lime zest, but at the same time we found crispy, salty bacon and garlic mussels in a red wine tomato sauce. On the palate we had a slice of sacher torte with a glass of Sicilian Nero d’Avola red wine, plus ripe red fruits, balsamic and hints of cocoa and tobacco. When adding a drop of water, don’t rush – and you will be rewarded with a big, powerful tannic flavour reminding us now more of a barolo wine. Following nine years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a first fill PX ex-bodega barrique.
