Tasting Notes
The panel was immediately bewildered by this dram, which showed maturity and aromas way beyond its stated years. The initial nose was riddled with things like aged sauternes and other dried out sweet wines, heather honey, beeswax, furniture oils, minerals, soft textural waxiness, green tea with lemon and this herbaceous, highly oxidative maturation profile. Stunning! With water we found all manner of herbal essences and crystallised exotic fruits. Kumquat, sultana and camphor as well. The mouth when neat was full of waxes, orange oils, flower honeys, mineral oil, hessian, and mead, lanolin and soft, creamy tannins. A splash of water brought precious hardwood resins, white truffle, elegant medicines, citrus rinds and olive oil. Amazing, tastes at least 20 years older than it is.
