Sherry Week
International Sherry Week celebrates all things sherry. But what does that have to do with whisky? Our very first bottling in 1983 was a whisky matured in a sherry cask from distillery 1. Today, we continue to celebrate sherry and whisky through our sherry cask maturation programme. Enjoy these casks as part of the world’s largest ‘salud!’ to everything sherry.

Tasting Notes
Following the treasure map by lantern light we first discovered cherry-and-toffee sweets, manuka honey and hazelnut chocolate. Tins of boot polish, glazed pork cheeks and old timbers were then unearthed before we dug deeper to find navy rum and treacle tarts served with clotted cream and cinnamon. Water revealed further layers as we continued shovelling to find pears poached in armagnac, mushrooms sautéed in butter and glasses of red wine sprinkled with icing sugar. After breaking through a layer of limestone we finally reached the treasure chest, filled with tea cakes, brandy pudding and muscovado sugar on creamy porridge. At 10 years of age, we combined selected casks from the same distillery. We then returned the single malt to a variety of different casks to develop further. This is one of those casks.
