Tasting Notes

This one showed a lovely waxy and leathery profile up front. Hazelnut oil, orange bitters, chocolate sauce and touches of eucalyptus and mentholated chewing tobacco. We also noted aniseed, blackcurrant wine gums, bramble leaf and chai tea. Water brought ginger cake, sweet flower honey, plum wine and flower nectars. Textural impressions of clotted cream, date molasses and fruity black coffee too. The palate showed cherries dipped in dark chocolate at first. Followed by walnut wine, pipe tobacco, liquorice and heather ales with a splash of mineral oil. Reduction brought out flavours of praline, herbal cough syrup, smoked paprika and toasted fennel seed. At 13 years of age, we combined selected casks from the same distillery. We then returned the single malt into a variety of different casks to develop further. This is one of those casks.
