The Panel initially noted mothballs at the back of a sock drawer. Balsamic vinegar-soaked staves. Then sweetened olive oil, cola cubes, heather honey and game meat crisps. A weird and wonderful brew that brought to mind old style Irish whiskeys and Turkish delight whipped up with blueberry coulis. Water unleashed toasted cereals, red liquorice, elderflower and lime mojitos, and a raspberry smoothie. The palate when neat showed a superbly punchy spiciness. Brazil nuts, cinnamon, brown sugar and then metal polish, cod liver oil and honeycomb. With water there were some great notes of furniture wax, pollens and plasticine. Mustard powder, sweet floral waxes, pickled cucumber and grilled pineapple. Matured for nine years in a bourbon hogshead before being transferred to a first fill ex-rye whiskey hogshead.
