Tasting Notes
On the nose, neat aromas of peach melba, cherry blossom, caramel-coated peanuts, sultanas and nougat were all held perfectly together by a delicate, sweet, oaky scent in the background. On the palate, we tucked into muesli with fresh dates and green apple slices followed by a fig and marmalade breakfast bun. After reduction, we added some walnuts to the muesli and had a mocha coffee with a piece of torrone, an Italian nut and nougat confection. To taste it was luscious and sweet, with the fruitiness of blackcurrant jam, as well as chocolate fondant in the finish. Following 10 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a second fill Spanish oak oloroso hogshead.
