Tasting Notes
After 30 years in a bourbon hoggie, we introduced this to a heavy toast, medium char, first fill barrel. The nose was sensationally seductive, with vanilla custard over toffee pudding, brandy-soaked raisins and stewed prunes, dark chocolate-covered raspberry and coconut bars, and flower shop perfumes. The palate was deep, yet subtle, with exotic intimations of cognac, candyfloss and perfumed handbags, paint, peardrops and pineapple skins. The reduced nose took us to an old-fashioned sweetie shop and had perfumed cigarettes, glacé cherries and gooseberry jam. The palate now offered tangerines preserved in calvados, stone fruits, custard apple and monstera fruit – juicy, perfumed and exotic.
