Tasting Notes
This was an especially expressive gin, felt the Panel. We got clear initial aromas of ground coriander, aged citrus peels, tangerine, grapefruit, grated nutmeg and allspice. Beyond that lay plenty of fruity and floral freshness. Water created a slightly more vinous character, with grape must, crushed flower stems and a splash of ginger cordial. The neat palate was full of strong citrus flavours, cupboard spices, caraway and muddled coriander leaf, plus hints of liquorice and orange zest. Reduction brought rosy apple notes, softer spices, hot-house flowers, more accentuated lemony vibes and a lovely fruity afterglow of cherry liqueur and citrus throat lozenges.
