Tasting Notes

A few startled glances were exchanged amongst panel members at first nosing of this dram. Initial notes included mentholated tobacco, big herbal qualities, sweetened medicines, tea tree oil and eucalyptus. The medicinal notes became more prominent with time, we found wintergreen, tar and tiger balm. Reduction brought a kiss of peat reek, farmhouse cider, smoked citrus jams, pollens and warm barley sugars. The neat palate was richly oily and packed with soft medicines, tobacco, silky gentle furls of peat smoke and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Water continued these medicated vibes of bonjella, witch hazel and cough syrup. Then thready peat smoke was back, with bonfire embers and sheep wool oils. How strange and fun to find a decidedly peaty example of this make we thought.
