A bright and bouncing aroma to begin full of orange vitamin tablets in soda water, Turkish delight, ginger biscuits, rye bread, toasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin seed oil. Some hessian sack and hints of golden sultana. Water brought cornflour starchiness, chamomile, vanilla foam, miso broth, toasted almonds and rich oatmeal. The mouth was punchy and rich with soft wood spices, cinnamon bark, cloves, paprika, light chilli infused olive oil and Madeira sponge. Some cider brandy and earthy turmeric underneath. With reduction, we found Mirabelle, hawthorn, Brazil nuts, beef jerky and Scout camp coffee. Matured for nine years in a bourbon hogshead before transfer to a 1st fill ex-rye whiskey hogshead.
