Tasting Notes
The neat nose on this one suggested unexpected things such as washing detergent (in a good way!) with air fresheners, laundered linens and mineral salts. We also got lemon cough drops, mixed citrus curds and lively ripe gooseberry. With water it revealed pumpernickel bread, elegant wood spices and a subtle, drying waxiness. The neat palate was robust and spicy, giving us malt extracts, shilling ales and freshly baked soda bread. Reduction brought dried pollens, pumpkin-spiced ales, brown bread spread with treacle and liquorice root.
