Tasting Notes
At first nose autumn greeted us with grain sacks from late harvests, apple wine and lemon peel as if to make a toddy to wash down coffee cream choux buns. On the palate things started off with pick 'n' mix sweets followed by a meaty and fruity impression of sage stuffing meatballs with cranberry sauce, and a glass of lambrusco spiced with cinnamon and dried ginger for good measure. With a bit of water the Panel were met by an array of sweet treats on the nose: caramel, foamy shrimps, raspberry jam, and madeira cake with a nice cup of rosehip tea. On the palate it was time for a digestif of dark muscovado and tonic with bite-size portions of butterscotch custard and tablet. After 10 years in a bourbon hogshead, this whisky was transferred to a 1st fill American oak PX hogshead for the remainder of its maturation.
