The nose was sweet and punchy - spun sugar, salt-water taffy with raisins, caramelized pineapple and oiled wood in the sunshine. The neat palate was powerful and intense – cherry Tunes, concentrated fruit bars, liquorice root and linseeds on salted porridge; a mouth-drying finish. With water, the nose found broken toffee, Dr Pepper, fruit teas, candied orange, perfumed tobacco, charred oak and leather handbags. The palate became sweeter and milder, still with some rum-like solvent notes, but balanced by candy corns and apple skins. The finish was spectacular – dry recollections of coffee grinds, mace, oak and black pepper lingering long in the mouth.
