Delightful aromas of toffee apples, apricots and vanilla sponge cake morphed with orange oil, tinned pineapples and plenty of toasted oak and pencil shavings. The juicy palate arrived with a burst of gooseberries, sour apples and lemonade while milk chocolate and toffee sweetness became balanced by dry spices and firm wood tannins. When reduced with a little water we found the softer fruits of plums, pears and apricot pastries mixing with heather honey, fondant icing and freshly fried doughnuts. Tobacco and cloves were now on the palate with oily marzipan, orange bitters and pink grapefruit while the peppermint fresh finish had us chewing on the coffee table.
