Here we have a Society first. We’ve only gone and created a blended Scotch whisky! How dare we do such a thing! We opted for a high malt content at around 70%, with the remaining 30% made up of some silky old grain whiskies to add finesse and lightness. In terms of cask types, this draws from around 40% bourbon matured whiskies and 60% sherry cask matured. We do hope you enjoy our foray into the world of blended whisky.
Tasting Notes
We enjoyed a stroll through a sunlit artist’s studio: graphite pencils, stretched canvas, and the comforting hush of an old art shop. The nose displayed many layers of linseed oil and apricot jam tarts, greengage plums and sliced brioche, then pineapple cubes and the cooling waft of after dinner chocolate mints. The palate was a patisserie daydream with honeyed melon, Madeira cake, sponge fingers dipped in coconut cream, and candied pecans nestled beside chocolate-covered prunes and yogurt raisins. With water, the dram bloomed with decadence. We found vanilla fudge and doughnuts filled with crème pâtissière, backed by old-style sherry wood and fruity esters. Earthy undertones of potting soil and walnut oil grounded the sweetness, while ginger wine, tiramisu, and toasted marshmallow added complexity. The taste was now a silky swirl of orange and peach in caramel, coconut water and mascarpone, before a herbal bitterness crept in. Marjoram, a whisper of chervil, and the nostalgic bite of aniseed balls and cinnamon sweets. A drying finish lingered like tobacco smoke wisping through our peaceful little studio.
