Tasting Notes
We were served a nice and cool apple wine with lemonade (‘süss gespritzt’) out of the traditional earthenware jug called ‘Bembel’ while sitting in the heart of the old town square in Frankfurt. On the palate we crunched on honey and apple cider vinegar toffee. When we added water we were transported to the lush, green, rolling hills of northern Portugal where we enjoyed a glass of Vinho Verde. High in acidity and very often with a light fizz this crisp wine makes a perfect match for freshly caught seafood. After nine years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill Sauternes barrique.
