A rather dry and punchy aroma at first, we noted. Lots of starchy linen cupboards, ironing water, vases full of drying flowers, subtle sooty notes and things like carbon paper, crumbling vanilla biscuits and dried apple rings. Water brought denser notes of old-school shilling ales, waxed canvas, old newspaper and marzipan bars. Neat, the palate was thick with coconut milk, gorse flower, barley extract and lemon peel with a hit of cherry beer and ginger cake. Water brought sunflower and pumpkin seeds, bitter ales, malt load, lemon barley water and a rich seam of herbal notes.
