Brittle minerals. Flint smoke. Lemon cough drops. Paraffin wax. Lamp oil. It’s a thrillingly old school example of this underrated highland make. It continues with liquorice sticks, coffee grounds, ointment and clean fabric. Water unveils herbal hunting schnapps, greenhouse vinery, hawthorne, trodden bracken, boiled sweeties and summertime gorse bushes. The arrival in the mouth is big and densely textured. Salted butter, hessian, waxes, pineapple curd and lychee jam. Pancake batter with lemon juice, nettle tea and sweet, charred wood.
