A superbly aromatic and highly marine nose. Wonderfully detailed and intricate with green coastal herbs, seaweed, sea air, chalky beach pebbles, driftwood and sand. A distant trail of bonfire smoke and wet canvas. Water brought out carbolic wash acidity, citrus juices, dried kelp, boiled shellfish and kippers drizzled with lemon juice. The palate when neat was superbly sooty with anthracite embers, sheep wool oils, malt vinegar and a wonderfully thick quilting of peat smoke. Reduction brought out smouldering pine wood, smoked olive oil, putty, tar and old creel nets. Impressions of burning rosemary wood, liquorice and camphor in the finish.
