Tasting Notes

The Panellists prepared for their favourite dessert, served with a tickle of alcoholic sweetness via the honey dispenser in a barber shop. On the creamy nose, we found knickerbocker glory, banana split, toffee, spun sugar, green apples and pear drops. These were followed by some mothballs, linoleum and a touch of lemon sherbet. The palate revealed flavours of caster sugar, warm flat cola, glazed doughnuts, custard, waxed fruits, star fruit and dragon fruit, with heat in the tail from crystallised ginger and a sprinkling of nutmeg. Reduced delivered a slightly less complex affair, giving us soft fruits, pea pods, beeswax, wood oil and pineapple, with a touch of sawdust, on the nose. The taste was now a bowl of vanilla sponge and custard, garnished with orange peel.
