Tasting Notes
“Wow, what a nose” and “turn up that dial” were just two of many comments nosing neat. We had the impression of opening a bag of ‘real’ wine gums, in other words gummies for grown-ups infused with actual merlot; earthy and fruity. On the palate came an ‘amped up’ vermouth, the darkest maple syrup (US grade A) and peanut butter on American pancakes. Following reduction, we discovered the scent of a dark chocolate cherry crème brûlée, as well as peanut butter and jam flapjacks. To taste we were transported to Lisbon as we queued in front of the A Ginjinha bar, originally opened in 1840, for a shot of ginja – aguardente infused with ginja cherries.
