Society celebrates new awards success
SMWS bottlings pick up top prizes in ISC and CMB Spirits Selection competitions
Cask No. 12.87: Velvety smooth with a hint of spice
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is delighted to announce that we’ve had a busy week picking up prizes in two prestigious international spirits competitions.
First up is the coveted Trophy prize in the Tasting Awards for Scotch whisky at the 2025 International Spirits Challenge (ISC), for Cask No. 12.87: Velvety smooth with a hint of spice. Out of thousands of entries submitted from around the world, fewer than two per cent are awarded a Trophy.
Don't worry if you haven't had the chance to try it – you can still get a taste at one of our Members’ Rooms or by picking a bottle up online HERE.
As well as the Trophy, our whiskies earned an impressive six ISC medals; including one Double Gold (Cask No. 12.87: Velvety smooth with a hint of spice), four Golds (including Cask No. 122.78: Divide and conker, selected by an all-women Tasting Panel for International Women’s Day), and one Silver.
But it doesn't stop there. We also had great success in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles Spirits Selection competition with four medals. Among them was a Grand Gold Medal for Cask No. 72.124: Soak up the sun with a glass of sherry, of which only three awarded in the entirety Scotch whisky entries.
The Society's awards tally since 2018 now sits at 372!
