The Founder's Tale in Korean
SMWS founder Pip Hills’ book about The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is now available in Korean, and was launched at a recent event in Seoul
The Founder's Tale was re-released in 2023 in celebration of the Society's 40th anniversary
The Founder’s Tale tells the story of the origins of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, as well as the many whisky adventures that followed, written in his own inimitable style by Pip Hills.
Pip’s book has now been translated into Korean by Dr Monica Lee, with both joining remotely for a book talk and live Q&A as part of the SMWS Korea branch’s recent Gathering celebrations in Seoul.
Society ambassador Olaf Meier was in Seoul to co-ordinate the event, with both Pip and Monica fielding questions online from the audience gathered at the L7 Hongdae hotel in the heart of Seoul.
Pip's book has now been translated into Korean
Monica has been a longtime fan of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society who previously lived in Scotland and studied for a Masters and PhD in whisky flavours.
The Founder’s Tale was originally published in English in 2019, with Pip telling the story of the Society’s origins and how it grew to become the world’s leading whisky club.
The book was updated and reissued in 2023 as Maverick – The Founder’s Tale in 2023 to mark the Society’s 40th anniversary.
